Why Grubbing Below Grade Matters

Cutting a tree at the ground is not clearing. Roots and buried stumps left in place rot over time, leaving voids that settle and undermine a pad or driveway later. Grubbing pulls that organic material out so structural fill can be placed and compacted on clean, stable ground. Skipping the step is one of the most common reasons a new slab develops low spots within a year.

Our Process

We call in an 811 utility locate first, then bring in dozers, excavators, and skid steers to fell and pile the vegetation. Stumps and root balls get grubbed out and the holes backfilled with compacted fill. We keep silt fence and erosion control in place through the clearing, and we leave the parcel graded rough and ready for the next phase.
