Site Preparation and Grading

Site Preparation and Grading in Waco

Every solid build starts below grade. Css-imagine takes a raw Waco parcel from overgrown ground to a compacted, build-ready pad, following the engineer’s grading plan for pad elevations, drainage slopes, and subgrade. We strip and stockpile topsoil, balance cut and fill so you are not hauling dirt you did not need to move, and shape the site from rough grade through finish grade. Positive drainage away from the structure is built in from the start.

Why Grading Is Worth Doing Right

Central Texas blackland clay swells and shrinks with the weather, so a pad that is not compacted to spec will settle and take a slab with it. We compact fill in controlled lifts and verify density with a Standard Proctor test (ASTM D698), commonly to 95 percent of maximum dry density. That number is what keeps a foundation on Valley Mills Drive or out toward China Spring from moving after the concrete cures.

Our Process

We start with an 811 utility locate and a walk of the lot, then strip topsoil and rough grade to move the bulk of the dirt. From there we fine tune to finish grade, set the drainage slopes, and compact the subgrade in lifts. Silt fence and inlet protection stay in place to meet stormwater rules, and we hand the pad off level and ready for footings.
